Superstition and irrational beliefs play a significant role in classical Urdu Dastans, reflecting not only the cultural norms of the time but also the collective psyche of the society. These narratives often feature elements such as jinns, fairies, talismans, magic, unlucky days, and omens that influence the fate of the characters. Such elements do not merely serve as tools of fantasy but actively shape the plot and moral undertone of the stories. This study analyzes superstitious elements in prominent Urdu Dastans particularly Tilism-e-Hoshruba, Dastan-e-Amir Hamza, and other traditional tales to explore how they mirror societal thought patterns and beliefs. The analysis suggests that superstition in these narratives should not be viewed only as a literary device, but as a reflection of the social and psychological conditions of the era in which they were written. In todays context, these tales offer insight into the roots of irrational beliefs and their continued presence in modern cultural consciousness.?
