Abstract
Allama Iqbal, the renowned poet-philosopher of the Indian subcontinent, left a profound
impact on the world through his visionary poetry and philosophical ideas. His message
resonated far beyond national borders, capturing the attention of intellectuals and scholars
across the globe. Among the countries most influenced by Iqbal’s thought, Iran holds a
special place, not only due to its geographical proximity to Pakistan but also because of the
shared cultural and linguistic heritage, particularly in Persian literature. Over the decades,
Iranian scholars have shown deep interest in Iqbal’s philosophy and poetry, producing a
significant body of research, articles, and books that explore various aspects of his work.
Recognizing the richness of this academic engagement, Dr. Hakime Dastranji compiled a
comprehensive book that surveys the research conducted on Iqbal in Iran, covering the period
from its inception up to the year 2012.This article presents an introduction and overview of
Dr. Dastranji’s important compilation, highlighting the depth and diversity of Iranian
scholarship on Iqbal and shedding light on how his message has been received, interpreted,
and discussed in Iranian intellectual circles.
