This analytical study explores the textual standards in Yahya al-Sinwar’s novel “Thorns and Carnations”, a narrative work that blends realism with symbolism and reflects both personal and collective Palestinian experience. The research aims to examine how al-Sinwar employs key textual components—such as cohesion, coherence, intertextuality, situationality, and pragmatics—to construct a meaningful and aesthetically rich narrative discourse.
The study further investigates the linguistic and structural techniques through which the author builds a form of resistant narrative, transforming individual suffering into a collective human vision rooted in national identity and cultural memory. The analysis concludes that al-Sinwar skillfully integrates textual standards to create a balance between linguistic structure and intellectual depth, making “Thorns and Carnations” a distinguished example of resistant Palestinian narrative art that unites aesthetic expression with ideological insight.
