This study comprehensively examines the relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and interfaith harmony within the context of multi-religious societies, aiming to provide a scholarly and practical framework for the ethical deployment of AI. Modern AI systems, including robotics, machine learning, data analytics, and social media algorithms, are not only revolutionizing social, economic, and educational domains but also creating ethical, social, and religious challenges in culturally and religiously diverse societies. This paper provides a detailed analysis of these challenges and explores how AI systems can be designed and programmed in accordance with principles of human dignity, religious freedom, non-discrimination, and transparency. The first section of the study offers a comprehensive overview of AI, its historical evolution, and the theories of Machine Ethics, highlighting key concepts such as algorithmic fairness, moral accountability, and transparency. The second section provides a comparative analysis of ethical principles across major world religions, including Islam, Christianity, Judaism, and Eastern religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism), to identify common moral values and opportunities for interfaith ethical collaboration.
Furthermore, the study reviews global and national frameworks for AI ethics, including those established by the United Nations, UNESCO, the European Union, and Islamic jurisprudential bodies. These institutions provide guidelines and recommendations to ensure AI systems uphold human rights, religious sensitivity, and social harmony. The paper also discusses practical models for interfaith ethical programming, the involvement of religious institutions in policy-making, and the role of Global AI Governance frameworks in ensuring transparency, fairness, and accountability in AI systems. The study concludes that, in multi-religious societies, it is imperative to integrate religious and cultural sensitivity into AI applications. Interfaith ethical dialogue, jurisprudential guidance, and harmonized global policies enable the responsible and ethical deployment of AI, aligning technological innovation with human and religious values. The recommendations presented in this paper provide a practical roadmap to ensure AI systems are not only technically efficient but also socially and religiously acceptable, thereby promoting human dignity, religious freedom, and social cohesion.
