Abstract

Education and training are the basic pillars of any nation’s life. When these two elements are missing from a society, intellectual backwardness, moral degradation and social chaos arise. The present era is facing the same crisis where education has become a mere means of earning a living while the aspect of training has been neglected. As a result, a person has knowledge but is devoid of character. He is intelligent but is deprived of moral awareness, which is the cause of social misguidance and the decline of human values. A Vacuum has been created. Islam has considered education and training not just a mental activity but a moral and spiritual milestone. For the all-round training of man, the Messenger of Allah devised a comprehensive system in which knowledge, character, faith and action were interrelated. He said! I have been sent as a teacher. It is clear from this statement of his that his aim was not to make man merely a scholar but a righteous man. He combined education with morality and said that the best of you is the one whose moral are the best (Sehih Bukhari:3559)The education and training system of the prophet was entirely based on action. The center of education, morality and social consciousness was the Prophet’s Mosque, where the work of human development was done in the light of the Quran and Sunnah. He taught his students with love, wisdom and gradualness. His teaching method was such that the matter would sink into the heart and knowledge would be ingrained in character. As a result of this training, a generation was prepared that became the bearers of knowledge and action, justice and kindness, sacrifice and loyalty. If today’s education system is guided by the Prophet, then the purpose of education can once again become humanization. Combining modern education with ethics, faith and action is the solution to this deficiency. The system of the Prophet reminds us that education is not just about knowledge but also about building and refining character. Education does not enlighten man with his Creator, the purpose of life and human responsibility.
