Abstract

The concept of Ahl al-Bayt al-Athar holds a distinguished position in Islamic scholarship, encompassing the closest family of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. While the term Ahl al-Bayt extends to the Banu Hashim, the Prophet’s wives, and his offspring, the designation Ahl al-Bayt al-Athar is most prominently and explicitly associated with the Prophet’s pure progeny. This study provides a specialized analytical examination of the Prophet’s ﷺ offspring—both male and female—and highlights their unique status, spiritual significance, and historical role within the broader context of Ahl al-Bayt. Drawing upon primary sources from the Qur’an, Hadith, and authoritative historical accounts, the paper elucidates the lineage, virtues, and exemplary characteristics of the Prophet’s descendants, emphasizing their role as models of moral excellence, piety, and devotion. The research demonstrates that the Prophet’s progeny, as part of Ahl al-Bayt al-Athar, are central to understanding the theological, ethical, and social dimensions of the early Islamic community.
