The development of Persian literature in the Indian subcontinent began with the arrival of the Ghaznavids. A significant portion of the subcontinent’s literary history is also associated with the Sufi saints, who not only promoted spirituality but also created a vast and enduring intellectual heritage through the Persian language and literature. The present article offers an analytical study of Dur al-ʿAjāʾib, a work by the renowned eleventh-century Hijri Sufi saint and man of letters, Hazrat Syed Muhammad Muqeem Muhkam al-Din (1018 AH–1050 AH). The primary objective of this research is to conduct a critical analysis of the themes and language of Dur al-ʿAjāʾib. The study demonstrates that Syed Muhammad Muqeem Muhkam al-Din accords central importance to maintaining a balance between the rights of God (ḥuqūq Allāh) and the rights of human beings (ḥuqūq al-ʿibād) in the process of moral and spiritual formation.
