Abstract

This research is carried out to find the effect of English language on regional languages, Urdu, Punjabi and Saraiki in South Punjab that is Rahim Yar Khan District. Employing a mixed-methods approach. The above results show that the workplace language has been replaced by English from the position of the regional language, and that English is being promoted at the expense of regional languages. The students’ reflections illustrate that even though they acknowledge the value of proficiency in English for success on a global scene, they apprehend the diversity and richness of languages as well as culture loss. Recommendations This study suggests policy measures for bilingual education, for increasing regional language use in workplaces, as well as increasing community awareness. It ultimately recommends that the regional languages and English must be given due importance to ensure that there is a well-balanced cultural and linguistic setting.
