RESISTANCE HESITATION IN URDU NOVEL
DOI:

Resistance-indecision is a very interesting and complex literary phenomenon in the Urdu novel. It refers to the internal conflict that arises at the character or narrative level between resistance and ambiguity/uncertainty.
Resistance generally refers to a reaction against social, political, or cultural oppression. In the Urdu novel, this theme emerges particularly in the context of the colonial era, the Partition of India, dictatorship, and class inequalities
Indecision refers to a state of indecision, or swinging between two conflicting paths. It reveals the psychological depth of the character.
The resistance attitude in Urdu novels began with Abdul Halim Sharar. The reason is that he presented examples from the past that were full of shameful acts of Christian missionaries. By looking into the past of these nations, he showed the West a mirror. Such situations are also seen in the novels of Deputy Nazir Ahmed. Where questions are raised about his novel "Ibn-Ul-Waqt". Even Sir Syed's son Syed Mahmood said about this novel that it has distorted the image of my father. The reason is that due to the narrative conflict and hesitation of this novel, Nazir Ahmed had to formally deny that Nazir Ahmed had tried to resist in a subdued tone by criticizing the wrong policies of the British in this novel
