Abstract

This research article explores the thematic paradigm of *Shama'il-e-Mustafa* (the physical and behavioral attributes of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ) within Urdu Na'at poetry, specifically focusing on the monumental contributions of Imam Ahmad Raza Khan Barelvi. Na'at poetry in Urdu has evolved from mere praise to a sophisticated genre encompassing theological, mystical, and aesthetic dimensions. Among classical and modern Na'at poets, Ahmad Raza Khan occupies a unique position; his poetic work, *Hada'iq-e-Bakhshish*, serves as a prime example of blending strict theological parameters with profound lyrical devotion. This study analyzes how Imam Ahmad Raza beautifully depicts the *Shama'il* (the physical beauty, gait, speech, and moral perfection) of the Holy Prophet ﷺ while maintaining absolute adherence to Islamic jurisprudence (Shariah). By employing textual analysis and historical-critical methods, this paper highlights how his poetry bridges the gap between divine reverence and human expression, establishing a distinct school of thought in Urdu Na'atia literature. The study concludes that his depiction of *Shama'il* is not merely descriptive but is deeply rooted in Hadith literature, creating an everlasting impact on the tradition of Urdu religious poetry
