This study examines the theoretical, socio-linguistic, and cultural dimensions of translation, investigating the epistemic transitions between source constructs and target configurations. Rejecting the reductionist view of translation as mechanical lexical substitution, this research conceptualizes it as an existential hermeneutic phenomenon deeply embedded in historical and civilizational matrices. It explores the tripartite teleological paradigms of translation—informative, cultural, and aesthetic—with a specific focus on the challenges encountered during the textual transmutation of ideological, mystical, and theological discourses. By probing the ontological evolution of translation within Urdu literature, particularly through the historical trajectories of British institutional interventions and classical prose adaptations, this paper underlines the necessity of semantic equivalence over syntactic fidelity. Furthermore, it addresses the structural impediments in replicating metaphorical density and socio-semiotic idioms, emphasizing that a qualitative translation necessitates the re-creational autonomy of the translator.
