Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive biographical and scholarly analysis of,the renowned author of Sharhul weqaya and one of the most distinguished jurists of the Hanafi school. The research critically examines the conflicting genealogical accounts recorded by classical biographers and bibliographers, identifying numerous inaccuracies found in works such as Jami al-Ramus, Madinat al-ilm. Through a comparative study of primary and secondary sources, the article reconstructs the most authentic lineage of the author, tracing his ancestry to the noble Companion, Ibn al-Samit (RA). The study further investigates the political, social, and intellectual environment of Transoxiana (Mawara AL Nahar) during the Mongol invasions, highlighting their impact on Bukhara and the scholarly activities of the Mahboobi family. Particular attention is given to the scholarly legacy of the author's ancestors, including Taj al-Shariah, Burhan al-Shaah, and Sadr al-Shariah al-Akbar, whose contributions significantly influenced the development of Hanafi jurisprudence.

Moreover, the research explores the author's educational background, academic standing, teaching methodology, notable students, and literary contributions. Special emphasis is placed on his major works, including Sharhul weqaya al-Tanqih, al-Tawdih, al-Noqaya and Tadi lul Uloom, which became authoritative references in jurisprudence, legal theory, logic, and theology. The article demonstrates how these works attained widespread acceptance among later scholars and played a pivotal role in shaping the curriculum of traditional Islamic seminaries. The study concludes that Sadr al-Shariah occupies a unique position in the history of Islamic scholarship as a jurist, theologian, logician, and educational reformer whose intellectual legacy continued to influence generations of scholars throughout the Muslim world.
