Abstract

The Poetry of T.S. Eliot and Shakir Wazir is compared in this study with an emphasis on their similar concerns for reformation. Both poets utilize their art to condemn the moral, spiritual, and societal deterioration of their times, while coming from different literary traditions and civilizations. Shakir Wazir tackles problems within his own sociopolitical framework, but Eliot captures the essence of the contemporary West. The study highlights poetry as a means for societal and personal development by examining how both poets use symbolism, imagery, and thematic depth to advocate for a return to moral and spiritual ideals. Intertextuality was taken as the theoretical framework for this study. Lastly, the poems can be analyzed through stylistics or CDA (Critical Discourse Analysis).
