A REVIEW ON INCREASING THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS’ ENROLLMENT THROUGH TEACHERS’ PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Abstract

In Pakistan within a passage of time number of education policies was developed for the successful completion of the educational objectives. The success of these policies was only measured to assess the increasing number of students enrollment in schools and focus on the dropout ratio. Still this a major challenge for the education sector of Pakistan. The major objective of this research was to review on the increasing number of the students’ enrollment in school with the professional training of the employees. While teachers specific characteristics, school specific characteristics and infrastructure specific characteristics were evaluated from 2013 to 2018. The findings indicated the total number of schoolteachers who received lengthier school-based professional development training had a stronger and larger positive correlation with student enrollment at a school. Second, the total number of schoolteachers who received school-based professional development training had a stronger and larger positive correlation with total enrollment at girls’ schools, compared to boys’ schools. Future research should focus on the mechanism behind the heterogeneous effects across gender as the literature quantifying the magnitude of such mechanisms is an emerging area of interest.
