THE BARE LIFE OF PALESTINIAN CHILDREN: A PHILOSOPHICAL EXPLORATION OF GAZA AS A STATE OF EXCEPTION

Abstract

Drawing upon the concepts of state of exception and zoe proposed by Agamben in his book Homo Sacer: Sovereign Power and Bare Life, this research explores the humanitarian crisis faced by children of Palestine particularly Gaza.The immediate and long term consequences of war on the mental and physical well being of children is a heartbreaking reality of today’s world which cannot be ignored. Children across the world have been suffering from immense hardships due to wars waged by adults. During conditions of war, the healthcare, educational and family system of the entire region collapses which immensely impact the children of war. Children of Gaza have suffered from forced displacement, mass killing and continuous violence by Israeli forces. This research adopts a philosophical approach to address challenges faced by children of Gaza, urging the global community to practice peace and harmony instead of chaos and destruction since tranquility and concord plays a pivotal role in protecting children from relentless adversities. It is crucial to adopt effective strategies and strict measures to protect the rights of children under all conditions.
