Abstract

Children's and Adolescent Literature, as one of the significant branches of literature, plays a crucial role in the intellectual, cultural, and social development of children and adolescents. The Urdu and Persian languages, with their rich literary and cultural heritage, have each followed distinct paths in the creation of children's and adolescent literary works. This article aims to provide an aesthetic comparison of children's and adolescent literature in these two languages.

In this study, the historical and cultural background of children's literature in both Urdu and Persian will first be examined. Then, the aesthetic features of these works will be analyzed in areas such as language, mental imagery, the use of allegory, and storytelling. Another important aspect discussed is the attention to indigenous and cultural elements in the literature of these two languages, which lead to notable differences in themes and educational approaches.

The findings of the research show that Persian children's literature emphasizes moral and educational teachings and draws upon myths and ancient tales, adopting a symbolic and didactic approach. In contrast, Urdu literature, influenced by folk literature and storytelling traditions, focuses more on entertaining and narrative aspects. From an aesthetic perspective, both languages employ creative imagery and diverse narrative styles; however, Persian literature tends to favor refined language and literary devices, while Urdu literature prefers simplicity and closeness to everyday language. Furthermore, cultural, historical, and social differences have had a significant impact on the aesthetics of children's and adolescent literature in these two languages. This study could provide a foundation for a better understanding of this field and for utilizing its potential in producing collaborative works and strengthening cultural connections between the two languages.
