(ANIS NAAGI AND EVOLUTION OF MODERN URDU NOVEL: A STUDY OF FORM AND THOUGHT)
Abstract
This paper explores the evolution of Anis Naagi's contributions to modern Urdu novel writing, focusing on both the form and the underlying thought processes. Naagi, a key figure in the landscape of contemporary Urdu literature, known for his unique narrative style and thematic depth. His works reflect a shift from traditional storytelling to more complex, modernist techniques, embracing existentialism, social issues, and political commentary. This study delves into Naagi's use of narrative structures, character development, and the representation of societal conflicts, revealing his innovative approach to the novel form. By analyzing key works such as Deewar ke Peechay, Ik Lamha Soch Ka, and others, the paper highlights the thematic shifts in his writing, examining his engagement with modernity, existential crises, and social disillusionment. Ultimately, this paper seeks to assess Naagi's role in shaping the modern Urdu novel and his impact on its evolution in both literary and philosophical contexts.
