Abstract

This research explores the spiritual and intellectual legacy of the Chishti Sufi order in Kot Mithan with a special focus on the teachings and contributions of Khwaja Ghulam Farid (RA). The Chishti order, renowned for its inclusive, peaceful, and service-oriented principles, played a pivotal role in shaping the spiritual landscape of South Punjab. Kot Mithan emerged as a significant spiritual hub due to the presence of influential Sufi saints and their khānqāhs. Among them, Khwaja Ghulam Farid (RA) stands out for his profound poetry, philosophical thought, and unwavering message of divine love and unity. This paper examines the arrival and spread of the Chishti order in Kot Mithan, the educational and moral system of the Sufis, and the societal impact of Khwaja Ghulam Farid’s teachings. His use of the Saraiki language in spiritual expression made his message accessible to the local populace, creating a deep-rooted spiritual identity. Through qualitative analysis of historical sources, poetry, and Sufi texts, this research evaluates how Khwaja Ghulam Farid's legacy continues to influence contemporary thought, inter-sect harmony, and cultural resilience in the region. The study concludes that his teachings, deeply embedded in Chishti Sufi traditions, serve as a vital resource for nurturing tolerance, spiritual consciousness, and societal balance in today's world.
