Abstract

This paper presents an analytical study of sociolinguistics, exploring how language functions not merely as a tool of communication but as a powerful marker of identity, social hierarchy, and cultural behavior. The paper investigates elements such as register, dialect, pronunciation, style, jargon, code-mixing, code-switching, and borrowing—each highlighting the dynamic interplay between language and society. Emphasis is placed on how language reflects social dominance, religious inclinations, and educational backgrounds. Linguistic etiquette, forms of address, and word choices are also examined as reflections of societal values. The study views language not as a static system, but as an evolving social process shaped by interaction, diversity, and cultural context.
