Abstract

This research undertakes a rigorous analytical inquiry into the contemporary applicability of Imdad-e-Bahami (mutual assistance), utilizing a framework derived from the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In the current socio-economic landscape of Pakistan marked by widening wealth disparities, systemic fragility in welfare provisions, and a discernible erosion of communal responsibility there is an urgent imperative to rediscover value-driven paradigms of social cooperation. Employing a qualitative and hermeneutic methodology, this study investigates how the Prophetic model specifically through the strategic institution of Mu’akhāt (brotherhood), the ethics of distributive justice, and organized philanthropic mechanisms provides a robust and scalable blueprint for social resilience. By synthesizing primary scriptural sources (the Qur’an and Hadith) with classical Seerah literature, the research bridges the gap between historical precedent and contemporary discourses on community development. The findings elucidate that the Seerah offers more than mere ethical exhortations; it presents an institutional architecture capable of addressing modern structural inequities. The study argues that integrating these Prophetic principles into Pakistan’s social policy and grassroots community structures can significantly catalyze social cohesion and ensure a more equitable resource distribution. Concluding with a set of policy-oriented recommendations, the research advocates for a systematic institutionalization of mutual assistance, effectively aligning traditional Islamic imperatives with the exigencies of modern developmental goals.
