Abstract

Supplication is one of the fundamental means of establishing a direct relationship between human beings and Allah Almighty. The Holy Quran presents numerous supplications of the Prophets (peace be upon them) which reflect their faith, patience, reliance upon Allah, struggle for truth, and concern for the guidance of humanity. These supplications are not merely expressions of personal needs; rather, they represent comprehensive principles of individual and collective reform. This research aims to analyze the supplications of the Prophets mentioned in the Holy Quran with special focus on their historical backgrounds, objectives, consequences, and their relevance to contemporary human life. The study adopts a qualitative research methodology based on textual analysis of Quranic verses and interpretation of classical and modern Quranic commentaries, including Tafseer al-Tabari, Tafseer Ibn e Kathir, Mafateeh-ul-Ghaieb, Maarif-ul-Quran, Tafheem-ul-Quran and Tadabbur-e-Quran. The study reveals that the supplications of the Prophets provide universal guidance regarding faith, repentance, patience, leadership, family upbringing, social reform, gratitude and dependence upon Allah. The prayers of Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) highlight repentance, Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) reflects perseverance in preaching, Prophet Ibraheem (peace be upon him) emphasizes monotheism, peace and righteous generations, while the prayers of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) demonstrate principles of leadership and facing challenges. Similarly, the supplications of Prophet Ayyoub, Younus, Zakariya and Suleman (peace be upon them) provide guidance for patience, hope, righteous offspring and responsible use of blessings. The research concludes that Quranic supplications are a timeless source of spiritual and ethical guidance and offer effective solutions to many contemporary individual and social challenges.
