"اُردو رپورتاژ نگاری کی صنفی شناخت: تاریخ، فکری جہات اور اسلوبیاتی جائزہ"
Abstract
In Urdu literature, reportage (r̥ipōrtāj) has emerged as a genre that builds an intellectual and aesthetic bridge between journalism and creative writing. This research study examines the generic identity, historical evolution, intellectual dimensions, and stylistic features of reportage as a distinct prose form. Writers such as Krishan Chander, Saadat Hasan Manto, and Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi have elevated the genre to literary prominence, while contemporary voices like Mahmood Shaam and Hassan Nisar have sustained its relevance in the modern context.
Reportage is not merely the reporting of events; rather, it is an aesthetic and intellectual expression that creates a meaningful dialogue between the individual and society. With its narrative depth, satire, vivid imagery, and cultural consciousness, reportage stands as a dynamic and complete genre within Urdu prose. This study highlights how reportage opens new literary pathways and explores its promising potential for future development in Urdu literature.
