Abstract

Anwar Babar hails from the Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He is considered one of the prominent literary and intellectual figures of his region. He is simultaneously a writer, humorist, poet, translator, travelogue writer and fiction writer. His pen flows equally well in both serious and humorous poetry. In the tradition of humorous poetry in Adabiyat-e-Sarhad(Literature of KPK), his book Aabgina-e-Danish(آبگینۂ دانش)holds a significant place; to ignore it would be a literary and research-based injustice. He is well-versed in all techniques of humor, but in his humorous poetry, he often uses parody as a means of expression. In the field of parody writing, the aforementioned author generally bases his work on the poetry of Ghalib, Nazeer and Iqbal. However, he particularly targets Iqbal’s  poetry more frequently for distortion and satire. This suggest that, in the author’s view, Iqbal’s  poetic thought is not only intellectually impactful but also offers a meaningful and popular target suitable for parody.
